Bournemouth v Liverpool

When: Thursday, 18 December 2014 @ 01:45 (FINISHED)
Where: The Goldsands Stadium
The first of two Wednesday night League Cup ties is a repeat of a fourth round FA Cup match last January, where the away team ran out 0-2 winners thanks to goals from Victor Moses and Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking for some much needed respite after his team were knocked out in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League this week, and they are currently languishing in a disappointing ninth place in the Premier League table.

A run to the semi-finals would be an added bonus for Bournemouth, who are unbeaten in their last seven home matches and sit third in the Championship, one point off an automatic promotion place.

While they are not to be underestimated – particularly after knocking out Premier League club West Bromwich Albion in the fourth round – they are second favourites at 15/4 as they search for their first ever victor over the Reds.

Liverpool are 8/11 to reach their first semi-final since winning the competition in 2012, but with Bournemouth possessing the Championship’s best attack this season with 39 goals, a standout option would be Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 12/5.

With Bournemouth being unbeaten in their last 11 matches in all competitions and Liverpool only winning two of their last nine, the draw at 13/5 could also be feasible for those who fancy the visitor’s wretched recent run to continue on the south coast next week.
